Cees Glas (Gelieerde onderzoeker)

Prof. dr. C.A.W. Glas studied Psychometrics and Statistics at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands. After obtaining his university degree in 1981, he obtained a position as research scientist was at the project Education and Social Milieu (OSM) in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. From 1982 until 1995, he worked as a research scientist at the National Institute for Educational Measurement (Cito) in Arnhem. One of the main tasks was supporting the central examinations in primary and secondary education. Further, he was project manager of the Cito-project "Test Service Systems", a project aimed at developing a computerized system for supporting the general test development and administration activities of Cito, including item construction, itembanking, test administration, test processing, and psychometric analyses.

In 1989 he obtained a doctorate (cum laude) on a thesis on test theory.

From 1995, he holds a position at the Department of Research Methodology, Measurement and Data Analysis, at the Faculty of Behavioural Science of the University of Twente Enschede, the Netherlands. He became a full professor in 2000 and the department head in 2001. He holds the chair “Social Science Research Methodology”, and is the director of the research program “Computerized testing of Knowledge and Skills”. He served as the research director of the Institute for Behavioral Science of the University of Twente from 2004 until 2008.

He was a consultant for numerous research projects including projects of Cito (the Netherlands), the Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test (Sweden) and the Law School Admission Council (USA).

He published in numerous scientific journals, supervised several PHD-theses, and is a member of the editorial board of several scientific journals.
