Report of the IAEA2022 Conference in Mexico City

From 2 to 7 October 2022, the 47th edition of the annual conference of the International Association for Educational Assessment was held in Mexico City. This year’s theme was “Contributions of Assessment to Quality Education“.

This year, RCEC again actively contributed to the conference. On Sunday 2 October, we provided the pre-conference workshop “Performing a Test and Item Analysis of Exam Results Using the Open-source Statistical Software R” to 20 participants from 9 countries (Azerbaijan, Barbados, Ghana, Jamaica, Netherlands, Nigeria, Philippines, United Kingdom and South Africa). In an interactive workshop, the participants were introduced to conducting test and item analyses online in an application developed by RCEC in R Shiny. The workshop was enthusiastically received and many questions from the audience could be answered.

On Tuesday, 4 October, Arnold Brouwer and Vali Huseyn from the State Examination Centre of Azerbaijan (SEC) gave a duo presentation on the audit RCEC was authorised to conduct for SEC in the year 2021. The session was well attended and this gave both presenters the opportunity to share their experiences and cooperation with a wide audience.

The rest of the week there was plenty of time for reuniting old friends, making new contacts, attending interesting presentations, exchanging knowledge, and enjoying the beautiful city of Puebla, the famous Coyoacán district with Frida Kahlo’s blue house and the magnificent gala dinner. We look back on a successful conference and once again thank Anáhuac University in Mexico City for its professional organisation.
